Welcome to my website! It’s mainly a bit of shameless self-promotion as I’m a freelance lighting technician. My CV is here as a PDF file. You can read more about my experience as a lighting technician, or you can look at some colourful photos of jobs on which I have worked. If you want to get in touch have a look at my contact page. I no longer advertise my e-mail address on this site because of spam e-mails. E-mails sent to the old address (www@...) will no longer reach me.
I used to run Stage Electrics’ moving lights department, and as part of that was acutely aware of how difficult it is to get reliable information about the kit. I came up with the moving light database as a possible solution. At some point I’ll resurrect the javascript utilities that used to use data from the database to aid patching and beam angle calculations.
Also on this site you’ll find a load of photos of various holidays as well as the photos of work. As well as programming lighting desks I also have an interest in programming computers, which is what inspired this website.
This website should work OK on modern browsers. Windows Internet Explorer still can’t cope with certain parts and makes the graphics look ugly. Upgrade to Firefox or Opera to see the world wide web properly.
I recently completely rewrote this site using Ruby on Rails. There’s a few more details on the blog. I plan to write a bit more about some specific problems and their solutions later.
You can use Google to search this website or the entire Internet. Just type some words into the text box in the menu, select whether you wish to search the site or the Internet, and then click on ‘search’. Google only scans this site occasionally, so it may not find brand new content. If you get a ‘Page not found’ error then the chances are that I’ve deleted that page since Google last scanned these pages. You can go back to the Google search and click on ‘cached page’ to view it.
